The Toyota Corolla is a popular car worldwide - to keep it in good condition, you should pay attention to regular maintenance. We'll tell you how to do it!
If you own a Toyota Corolla or are thinking about getting one, it's important to know how much maintenance costs, what each service entails, and which components can cause problems over time. Here we explain everything clearly and clearly.
How often should the Toyota Corolla be serviced?
The Toyota Corolla needs an inspection every 15,000 km or once a year, whichever comes first. This interval applies to both gasoline and hybrid versions, with the latter also involving a check of the electrical system to ensure that the battery and hybrid system are in good condition. Every two years, the major inspection is due – or after 30,000 kilometers driven.

Approximate maintenance costs
Prices may vary slightly depending on the workshop, but these are approximate values per service, based on mileage:
- 15,000 km or 1 year: approx. €130 – Includes oil change and filter change, check of the hybrid system (if fitted), brakes, lights, tyres and levels.
- 30,000 km or 2 years: approx. 315 € – This is where the big inspection takes place. Brake fluid and air filters are also changed. The exhaust system and the hybrid battery are examined more closely.
- 45,000 km or 3 years: approx. €240 – This involves checking the suspension, steering and transmission and cleaning the battery vent (for hybrid versions).
- 60,000 km or 4 years: approx. 450 € – major inspection. A full review of the hybrid and cooling system is carried out, as well as the automatic transmission and key electrical components.
Is it expensive to maintain a Toyota Corolla?
The maintenance of the Corolla, especially the hybrid versions, tends to be cheaper than other vehicles with a conventional combustion engine. By dispensing with components such as the clutch, starter or timing belt, the likelihood of costly breakdowns is reduced and overall wear is lower, especially in city traffic.

What elements can cause problems over time?
Although the Corolla has demonstrated good reliability overall, there are some components that should be carefully checked throughout its lifetime:
- Hybrid batteries: Although they typically last over 200,000 km without any problems, it is advisable to check the charge and cooling status regularly, especially in very hot climates.
- Braking system: In hybrids, braking recharges the battery (recuperation), which reduces wear, but can lead to hardening of the pads and discs if the driving style is too gentle.
